Inspired by the Brand Identity Model designed by Brand Strategy Insider (our favourite blog), we have decided to describe our brand identity (find it below). Have you thought about your brand identity? Maybe now is the moment to identify yourself?

“Hello, my name is X and I work at X.” We are not against using a personal name in a business name, especially not in industries where the person is everything, like in fashion/clothing (Armani is obviously perfect), legal services and even restaurants (e.g. McDonald’s). However, you have to ask yourself a few questions:
1. Do you have a good sounding name, like Armani or Chrysler? 2. Do clients choose your company only because of you? Do you want it to be like this in the future? 3. What if you sell your company? Using personal names to brand a business is easy, you save money on naming consultants but, in the end, it could be restricting. For example, our favourite marketing expert is Al Ries and his company is called Ries&Ries. His daughter Laura Ries also works with him and this is obviously a family business. A final question to all those who consider using their family name as a business name: do you want your company to be perceived as a family business? As a freelance company we have decided to support the freelance society by creating a Facebook page. We named the page Freelancer Help. Freelancer Help is a place where future and actual freelancers can learn more about freelancing. The Facebook page will provide breaking news, tips, links to articles and freelance jokes. For example, our breaking news for today is the announcement of Elance regarding the update of connects to membership plans. That is wonderful news for everyone working through their freelance platform.
We believe that this is the perfect moment to start this page, now that 2013 is expected to be the Year of the Freelancer as Elance predicts that companies will hire twice as many freelancers. This probably means that we can expect that more people will become freelancers in the next 12 months. Freelancer Help would be a small support to them and it is just a “like” away: www.facebook.com/freelancerhelp. Now that we know that the world will not end today, we would like to wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. May 2013 bring you love, prosperity, many precious moments and… a never-ending world.
To celebrate both occasions (the misconception of the Mayans and the Christmas holidays), The Rabbiter organizes a referral program for our loyal clients. We will provide free of charge slogan proposals to all those of you who bring a new client in need of a good name. The program is effective from today and is planned to be effective until the world spins… You already have someone in mind? Drop us a line at office@therabbiter.com. After the successful internet campaign last year, The Rabbiter organizes a new campaign with a new ad (see above). The advertising starts on Facebook, Twitter and Google Adwords from today.
Just like the previous campaign we are using smart humour in the ad. The concept, the design and the content of the ad are all created by The Rabbiter. The Rabbiter’s inspirational story is among the winners in the competition organized by Elance for the International Freelancers Day. The prize we won is a $100 Amazon Gift Certificate.
The entire story can be read here. The full list of winners is available at https://www.elance.com/q/blog/envelope-please-announcing-our-contest-winners Somehow inspired by the logo redesigns of global brands during this year and amused by the logos remade with new Microsoft design style, we recreated our own logo.
Our aim was to add cleaner lines, more class, higher readability and simplicity to our “Hidden ears” logo without changing the core concept. It was also important to make the logo suitable for the website design. The new logo already replaced the old version on our official web page, all our advertising materials and blanks, as well as on The Rabbiter’s profiles on Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn. The logotype is developed with a modification of the font JasmineUPC in a dark grey colour, while the symbol’s background is in our favourite colour #8dc919 without the rounded corners and the gradient of the previous logos, and including the traditional hidden element in white. The element suggests several ideas: 1. It represents the letter R, the first letter of the word rabbiter. 2. It represents the ears of a rabbit. 3. It represents a cartoon trace of jumping. 4. It represents a tick evoking the idea of an approved name. Which idea did you see first? The Rabbiter was successfully verified by the most popular freelancer website Elance.com. We have received an ID verification seal which gives potential clients the assurance that The Rabbiter is the real provider behind the profile. The seal will be visible on the top of our profile page as well as during the proposal selection. In order to get verified, freelancers must pass a verification interview. Learn more about Elance's Identity Verification for Contractors here. To celebrate the International Freelancers Day, the freelancer website Elance organizes a contest for the best inspirational story about freelancing. The Rabbiter entered the contest with the following post:
How Freelancing Has Changed How I Live And Work by The Rabbiter From the idea that lit the fire of my freelance business, through the excitement of my first awarded job, to keeping a 4.8 star profile at Elance.com for the last 12 months – this is a 3 and a half years old story, yet it already changed my life. And these are the 5 main changes: My daughter calls me daddy I used to work as Brand Manager for a multinational health care company. I have worked for 50 hours per week. Now, I am working for… 50 hours per week. There is one but, of course. Today, I can set my schedule the way I want. Before becoming a solopreneur, I was like an uncle to my daughter as I was always working late. Now, she calls me daddy. I choose the bullets on my website Do you remember thinking how many things you would have done differently if you were in your boss’ shoes? Congratulations, it’s Independence Day! Now, I can set my own rules and make my own mistakes to learn from. This is my business – my style. I can finally design my work the way I see it. Now I know exactly where the British Virgin Islands are From the American “thanks, man” to the Australian “cheers, mate” – I had the unique opportunity to work with clients from every continent on the planet. Such experience gives you variety, confidence and the sublime feeling that you speak to the whole world. I stopped working Confucius once said “choose a job you love and you will never have to work a day in your life”. Clearly, Confucius was talking about freelancing. As soon as I became a freelancer I started perceiving work differently. This is not something you do for money, this is now something you do for yourself and for… even more money. I will probably live longer No more picking the right tie, no more traffic jams, no more end of the year meetings, no more “Get in my office! Now!”. Freelancing gives you the exclusive opportunity to do your job by lying on your living-room’s sofa with no socks on. And if stress shortens life, then being a freelancer means I will most probably see my great-grandchildren growing up… and becoming freelancers. Now, I realize that it all started from a funny idea, like a joke, really. This joke is now my biggest pride, my inspiration. Freelancing can be your dream come true if you find your vocation. The best freelancing website Elance called for inspiring stories. However, freelancers don’t really need inspiration because freelancing starts with one. Happy International Freelancers Day!
